The homeowners envisioned a tranquil outdoor retreat that would feel private, immersive, and deeply connected to the surrounding natural landscape. The design centered around a custom in-ground spa positioned beneath a dramatic timber frame cabana structure, creating a sheltered year-round environment for relaxation and entertaining.
An expansive entertainment deck extends through the space, connecting lounge and gathering areas while maintaining clear visual relationships to the surrounding woodland setting. Automated lighting, integrated infrared heating, automatic privacy shades, and layered landscaping were carefully incorporated to enhance comfort and usability throughout every season.
To complete the retreat-like atmosphere, a large natural rock waterfall was integrated along the patio edge, introducing movement, sound, and a calming visual focal point that reinforces the connection between the outdoor environment and the natural surroundings.
Spa Cabana
A custom timber frame cabana creates a dramatic architectural focal point while providing shelter and privacy for the in-ground spa area. Integrated infrared heaters, automated lighting, and retractable privacy shades allow the space to remain comfortable and inviting year-round, even during cooler Pacific Northwest evenings.
Landscaping and Water Features
Layered planting design, natural stone elements, and a cascading rock water feature create a peaceful woodland atmosphere throughout the property. The integrated landscape design softens the outdoor living areas while enhancing privacy, texture, and year-round visual interest.
Outdoor Entertainment Deck
The expansive deck was designed to support both entertaining and everyday relaxation while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Multiple seating zones and carefully planned circulation create a comfortable, functional outdoor environment that feels cohesive with the home and natural setting.
Integrated Lighting & Comfort Features
Thoughtfully integrated lighting systems enhance ambiance, visibility, and architectural character throughout the evening hours. Combined with heating elements and covered structures, the outdoor environment remains highly functional across changing weather conditions and seasons.
